My Story Matters

Your story matters! When you share your story, you help people understand what life is like for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). You also help them learn what is important to you and the I/DD community. Sharing your story can help teach leaders and lawmakers in North Carolina how to make life better for people with I/DD.

The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) offers a way for you to easily share your story through its My Story Matters campaign. By completing an online form, you can share your own story in your own words. NCCDD reviews the stories and might select yours to feature! Read some of the stories shared with us

How to submit your story

  1. Complete an online form with information about yourself. The link to the form is

  2. Upload a photo of yourself. It can be a selfie, a photo with your family or friends (let us know where you are in the photo!), or even doing something fun in your community.

  3. If you agree to allow NCCDD to share your story online, you will have an option to give us permission.

  4. Once we receive the information, the NCCDD team will take the time to read and understand your story.

  5. If you said we can share it online, we will let you know via email when you will be featured!

Any information you provide to us on the form is for demographic reporting and for NCCDD's internal use only. Your data will not be shared with any third party or outside organizations.

¡Tu historia importa! Al compartirla, ayudas a las personas a comprender cómo es la vida de las personas con discapacidades intelectuales y del desarrollo (DID). También les ayudas a comprender qué es importante para ti y para la comunidad con DID. Compartir tu historia puede ayudar a enseñar a líderes y legisladores de Carolina del Norte cómo mejorar la vida de las personas con DID.

El Consejo de Carolina del Norte sobre Discapacidades del Desarrollo (NCCDD) le ofrece una manera fácil de compartir su historia a través de su campaña "Mi Historia Importa". Al completar un formulario en línea, puede compartir su propia historia con sus propias palabras. El NCCDD revisa las historias y podría seleccionar la suya para presentarla. Cómo enviar tu historia

  2. Sube una foto tuya. Puede ser una selfi, una foto con tu familia o amigos (¡cuéntanos dónde sales!) o incluso haciendo algo divertido en tu comunidad.

  3. Si aceptas que NCCDD comparta tu historia en línea, tendrás la opción de darnos permiso.

  4. Una vez que recibamos la información, el equipo de NCCDD se tomará el tiempo necesario para leer y comprender tu historia.

  5. Si aceptaste que la compartiéramos en línea, te avisaremos por correo electrónico cuando aparezcas.

Toda la información que nos proporcione en el formulario es para fines de informes demográficos y para uso interno del NCCDD. Sus datos no se compartirán con terceros ni organizaciones externas.
