A time to CELEBRATE*LEARN*SHARE
Do you know about the unspeakable story of a Castle Hayne, NC native and his role in disability history? Join us for a powerful virtual discussion with Dr. Susan Burch, co-author of Unspeakable: The story of Junius Wilson. This remarkable book tells the true story of Junius Wilson, a deaf man, who grew up in Castle Hayne, and was wrongfully imprisoned for most of his life. It is a story about ableism and racism that occurred before the ADA was signed into law. Dr. Burch will guide us through a powerful and thoughtprovoking discussion about his life and his UNSPEAKABLE story. What can we celebrate and learn from his story in the spirit of the ADA and the activist work of our disability rights ancestors? Most importantly where is advocacy and education still needed before we can truly say that people with disabilities have equal access.
