Finding – and keeping – dedicated direct support staff is a challenge that comes up frequently within the Supported Living community. Three of Vaya Health's partners in the Supported Living: Making the Difference initiative recently released a report, "Moving from Crisis to Stabilization: The Case for Professionalizing the Direct Support Workforce through Credentialing". Developed by The National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP), the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities (NLCDD) and Community Bridges Consulting Group, the report provides policy makers, provider agencies and other stakeholders a blueprint for how a national credentialing standard will positively transform the intellectual and developmental disabilities service delivery system.

How do you transition an individual who has lived in multiple 24-hour supervision institutions into the community and step down supports as the individual requests?
How do you support individuals in achieving their goals of having a significant other, hanging out downtown at night and visiting family?
How do you help individuals select their own homes and navigate tenant rights?
Living in the community is possible using an array of Innovations services and person-centered planning. Hear from the professionals who are helping make it a reality. Duncan Reid and Holly Hunnicut of The Arc of North Carolina will discuss their experiences of providing Supported Living services.
The webinar will be recorded and shared shortly after the live presentation. Last year's webinars are available to download here.
Supported Living webinars are sponsored by the NCCDD and North Carolina Money Follows the Person Project (NC MFP), a Medicaid project that assists Medicaid-eligible North Carolinians who live in inpatient facilities to move into their own homes and communities with supports.
