Your story is important! Your story helps to raise awareness about the issues experienced in the daily lives of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (I/DD) and what is important to you. Sharing your story is an impactful way to educate and inform key decision makers, lawmakers, and others who can help make life better for people with I/DD in North Carolina. 

NCCDD's My Story Matters campaign provides a way for you to share your story. By completing an easy-to-use online form, you can share your own story in your own words. Stories are reviewed by NCCDD and selected stories are shared on NCCDD's website. Read some of the stories shared with us!

How to submit your story

• Complete the online form below with information about yourself. 
• Upload a photo of yourself. It can be a selfie, a photo with your family or friends (let us know where you are in the photo!), or even doing something fun in your community. 
• If you agree to allow NCCDD to share your story online, you will have an option to give us permission. 
• Once we receive the information, the NCCDD team will take the time to read and understand your story. 
• If you said we can share it online, we will let you know via email when you will be featured! 

Any information you provide to us on the form is for demographic reporting and for NCCDD's internal use only. Your data will not be shared with any third party or outside organizations.

My Story Matters (Mi historia importa) es una nueva campaña, lanzada el 1 de marzo de 2024 durante el Mes de Concientización sobre las Discapacidades del Desarrollo (DD, por sus siglas en inglés), por el Consejo de Discapacidades del Desarrollo de Carolina del Norte (NCCDD, por sus siglas en inglés) para aprender sobre los habitantes de Carolina del Norte con discapacidades intelectuales y otras discapacidades del desarrollo (I/DD, por sus siglas en inglés) en todo el estado y los temas que son importantes para ellos.

¿Por qué hacemos esto? 

¡Tu historia es importante! Su historia también es una forma de defensa. Compartir su historia con nosotros puede ayudarnos a abogar junto con los principales tomadores de decisiones, legisladores y personas que pueden ayudarnos a mejorar la vida de las personas con I/DD como usted en Carolina del Norte.

¿Cómo funcionará esto?

• Complete un formulario en línea con información sobre usted. 
• Sube una foto tuya. Puede ser una selfie, una foto con tu familia o amigos (¡cuéntanos dónde estás en la foto!), o incluso hacer algo divertido en tu comunidad. 
• Si está de acuerdo en permitir que NCCDD comparta su historia en línea, tendrá la opción de darnos permiso. 
• Una vez que recibamos la información, el equipo de NCCDD se tomará el tiempo para leer y comprender su historia. 
• Si dijiste que podemos compartirlo en línea, ¡te avisaremos por correo electrónico cuando aparezcas!
