NCCDD welcomes new, innovative ideas to help accomplish the Council’s goals to improve financial stability for individuals with I/DD spell out and their families, expand community living opportunities and strengthen advocacy in the area of I/DD (See Five Year Plan). Click here to submit your idea.

Announcing a New NCCDD Grant Opportunity for Community Living

The NC Council on Developmental Disabilities has awarded funding to The Arc of NC, Easter Seals UCP and the Autism Society of NC for a new project, From Planning to Action: Supporting Integrated, Collaborative Care for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, that builds on the work of the Medical Health Home initiative. A core focus of this project is funding for two (2) pilot demonstrations that will be awarded through a competitive application process managed by the project team. The Arc of NC serves as the fiscal agent. Click here for details or to apply for this grant. Deadline to apply is March 10.

Presenting NCCDD's 2017 Public Policy Priorities

NCCDD’s public policy and advocacy efforts ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families contribute to the design of services and supports, along with other assistance and opportunities, to promote opportunities in education, employment, housing and more. NC ABLE Comes to North Carolina! 

Starting January 26, individuals with disabilities can save and invest without jeopardizing means-tested benefits. The NC ABLE Program launches nationwide at NC.SaveWithABLE.com. These affordable, tax-advantaged accounts allow eligible individuals, with either physical or cognitive disabilities, to save up to $14,000 a year without endangering eligibility for certain means-tested federal and state benefit programs, including Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Through its new Five Year Plan, the Council promotes advocacy development, community living and financial asset development so people with I/DD have options to make choices about work, where to live, friendships, taking part in the various activities of their community and other personally defined outcomes. NCCDD has expanded our initiative section to help you better understand what our partners are doing to help the lives of people with developmental and other intellectual disabilities. AIDD Approves Five Year Plan Goals and Objectives

The new Five Year Plan (2017-2021) was recently adopted by the 40-member Council and was approved by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD). Implementation began on October 1, 2016. Read more here.
