The purpose of the Committee is to serve as a formal and continuing means to make the community aware of the needs and abilities of the handicapped, to encourage the involvement of the handicapped in the daily activities of the community by promoting their gainful employment, removing architectural barriers, and by acting as an education, public relations, and advisory agency to both individual handicapped citizens and the community at large to the end that the skills of all citizens are used the fullest extent. https://cityofrockymount.hosted.civiclive.com/departments/human_relations/mayors_commission
