DHHS is the largest agency in state government, responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well being of all North Carolinians. It provides the human service needs for fragile populations like the mentally ill, deaf, blind and developmentally disabled, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.

NC TASH serves children and adults with severe disabilities and takes a strong lead in the effort to reform attitudes, supports and conditions for people with disabilities. It advocates for inclusive education, integrative education, housing, employment and social justice for adults with these disabilities.

The North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research identifies public policy issues facing North Carolina and enriches the dialogue among citizens, the media, and policymakers. They are dedicated to the goals of a better-informed public and more effective, accountable, and responsive government.

An internationally recognized training initiative, PiP prepares and motivates people with disabilities and their families to be effective advocates in seeking improved policies and supports.
