Reaching the Summit of Success: Transitions to Work and Employment First

In Fall 2012, Reaching the Summit of Success at the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston, was awarded a grant by NCCDD. This grant aimed to develop a plan to assist North Carolina in developing new policies and expanding promising transition and employment practices to increase employment outcomes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This spring, the project will be hosting a number of roundtables in locations throughout the State designed to provide stakeholders with information and solicit feedback on priorities for policy and practice. Plans are in the final stages for a session for individuals, families and service providers in Wilmington; a session for community providers at the NC APSE conference in Atlantic Beach, NC; and a session in Raleigh targeting state agency personnel and others at the systems level. A fourth cross-stakeholder session is being planned for Asheville.

Stay tuned for additional details in the coming weeks! To be added to the project’s email list, contact Cindy Thomas at [email protected] with “Reaching the Summit of Success” in the subject line.
