ALP-NC Now Accepting Applications for Cohort 2 - 2024
The Disability Rights movement in NC needs advocate leaders - your story is important! The Ability Leadership Program - North Carolina (ALP-NC) is an inclusive program that prepares people to engage in disability rights advocacy. And, it is currently accepting applications for the next Cohort!

Who can be an ALP-NC Leader (participant)?
- Adults with an intellectual and/or developmental disability (IDD)
- Family members or caregivers of persons with lived experience
- In-field professionals supporting people with IDD
Each class is chosen to represent a range of experiences, demographics, and access needs. Up to 15 participants will be accepted for this cohort.
Those not selected for this cohort will be invited to apply for future cohorts.
How does the cohort work?
In the cohort, we will:
- develop personal advocacy stories
- practice self and collective advocacy skills
- and network with others who can help solve problems and remove barriers to access
Sessions are held on Zoom from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be breaks provided during each online session. The dates are as follows:
- May 17
- May 31
- June 14
- June 28
Small group meetings are also held between sessions.
