How can you make a difference for North Carolina’s I/DD community? Become an NCCDD Council Member! If you are an individual with I/DD or a parent/family member of an individual with I/DD, consider applying to become a member of NCCDD.

Currently, the Council is seeking members for under-represented portions of our state, specifically the western region, the northeast area, and the far southern counties. To see which areas of the state need Council member representation, please check out the Council members map here. 

The Council’s 40 members appointed by the Governor – of which 60 percent are required to be people with intellectual or other developmental disabilities (I/DD) or a family member – work together to advance the mission of the Council to make the State of North Carolina more inclusive and integrated. 

Other members include state legislators, top state agency officials and representatives of Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCO) and service providers.

The NCCDD works on behalf of over 185,000 people with I/DD living in NC. The work of the Council is directed to help communities become more inclusive of people with I/DD and their families.

Applications for Council membership are always welcome and members of the I/DD community, including family members, are encouraged to apply at any time during the year.
