Upcoming Public Meetings COVID-19 Resources

Woman with disabilities works on her laptop compter.Closing the employment gap and integrating more people with disabilities into the workforce leads to independence and financial security. What You Can Do to Help:

  • Recommend campaign participation and public relations support of employment related special events planned in your area and make sure it is posted on NCCDD’s calendar.

  • Identify story opportunities featuring the personal stories of both employers and job seekers who have successfully gained employment or managed a transition from school to work. With the employer’s and employee’s approval, the Public Relations team will possibly do one or more things explained below:

    • Call and interview them by phone to discuss their employment related expeence and write their story.
    • Send a photographer to their home or job to take photos of the employee at work, their supervisor/owner.
    • Send a videographer to interview them on camera for use in social media, on NCCDD’s website and on blogs.

  • The Public Relations team will be talking to local television and newspapers to cover major National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) events around the state and would like to make sure one or more events are identified in Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington, Boone, Greenville, Greensboro and Fayetteville.

Every effort will be made to coordinate NCVR’s NDEAM calendar of events and to seek newspaper and television coverage of the events and success stories in your market.
