man talking on phoneThe North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities is a statewide leader in progress of support and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families.

Since the 1990s, the Council has proudly supported partners across the State who find innovative solutions for people with I/DD and their families to achieving more independent lives in integrated communities.

Focused on problem solving and fostering change, various areas of impact include self-determination, community inclusion, employment, education, housing, healthcare, transportation, advocacy and more.

The Council focuses on initiatives, aligned with the Five Year State Plan, that demonstrate how people with disabilities do meaningful work and are effective employees, students and community citizens; support people in advocating for themselves; lead in local, state and national policymaking efforts; and promote overall contributions of people with I/DD to their communities of choice.

Significant work done throughout the years is a result of effective partnerships with organizations and groups across the State of North Carolina.
