Membership & Development
Ad Hoc Committee Meeting
MINUTES
July 14, 2015

Members Present: Carrie Ambrose, Karen Armstrong, Katie Holler

Members Absent: Joshua Gettinger, Michael Groves, Wing Ng, Cheryl Powell

Staff Present: Chris Egan, Melissa Swartz, JoAnn Toomey

Carrie Ambrose opened the tele-conference meeting by welcoming the members.

Chris updated the members on the listening sessions that have been held to date. There has been varied attendance at the sessions, which was expected. Chris mentioned that two more sites have been added in the Charlotte area and in Winston-Salem. Session locations have been updated on the NCCDD website. Ad Hoc members suggested that when thank you notes are sent out to listening session participants, that an invitation to attend our quarterly Council meetings also be included. Melissa further discussed with the ad hoc members the quality vs. quantity of participants – that even when just one participant attended, it was a powerful experience. Council member attendance still needs to be encouraged.

The members then reviewed the draft August Council meeting agenda. They agreed that the timeframes looked good and were reminded that the one-pagers have been included in the mail out of the initiatives up for continuation funding. Chris will send out a reminder to all members of the 8:30 start time and that the Thursday reception will include recognition of Beth Stalvey and Shayna Simpson-Hall.

The 2016 Conference list was reviewed. It will be updated as new conferences are announced. The members agreed it was good to get this information out for all Council members to be able to plan in advance, but that there should be some kind of summary of feedback and information sharing after a member attends.

The members scheduled their next meeting for Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Carrie thanked those in attendance for their input. Meeting adjourned.
