Register for NCCDD's Self-Advocate Discussion Series

The NC Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) will again sponsor a virtual monthly self-advocate discussion series. Discussions aim to emphasize the value of people with disabilities to build and maintain relationships with NC legislators and decision-makers while bridging relationships and a network among NC self-advocates. Spend time with others who have common interests, develop your personal story to be goal and topic oriented, and become part of the NCCDD community.

The dates and times are as follows. 

  • Wednesday, March 2 - 1 PM
  • Wednesday, April 6 - 1 PM
  • Wednesday, May 4 - 1 PM
  • Wedneday, June 1 - 1 PM

The webinars will be held monthly from 1 - 2 PM via Zoom.

Three sessions are dedicated to sharing and developing goal and topic oriented personal stories, NC Self-Advocate Network relationship building, NCCDD Awareness, and just being with others who have common interests. Expect fun, learning, and making new friends while sharing and hearing personal stories of lived experience about topics important to IDD advocacy.  Join the conversation and spend time with others who have common interests and become part of the NCCDD community!

Expert Panel: Policy and Social Change Advocacy

Policy experts will discuss building and maintaining relationships with NC legislators and policymakers. An expert panel will balance training, knowledge sharing, and attendee participation to teach the best ways to approach decision-makers and how to use our personal stories to discuss topics important to IDD advocacy.
