The committee conducts specific activities of the Governor’s Advocacy Council for Persons with Disabilities and the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and promotes special events such as the annual National Employ the Handicapped Week and Disability Awareness Week. The committee promotes the establishment and improvement of rehabilitation and recreational facilities and programs; identifies barriers that hinder the mobility of the disabled; supports and promotes appropriate legislation advocating issues of interest for people with disabilities; and advises the City Council about the goals, recommendations, and activities of the committee. https://www.goldsboronc.gov/mayors-committee-for-persons-with-disabilities/
