GOVERNOR APPOINTS RICHLANDS PARENT TO
DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES COUNCIL
Debra Wilson has been appointed by Governor Beverly Perdue to serve on the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities. As a parent advocate from Richlands, a community north of Jacksonville, Wilson will provide the perspective of a family member and a resident of rural North Carolina when considering policies related to people with developmental disabilities.
“I am delighted that Debra Wilson has joined the Council,” said Executive Director Holly Riddle. “I am sure she will make a valuable contribution with her experience as a parent of a child with a developmental disability.”
The 40 member North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities seeks to support effective and innovative initiatives that promote community inclusion, independence, productivity, self determination and integration for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
